Film Funding and Support
The City strongly supports the film industry and has an established Film Assistance Program to attract and support production companies looking to film in the city. This is unique for local government in Australia and is independent from the filming incentives provided through Screen Australia and Screen Queensland.
City of Gold Coast Film Assistance Program
The program incorporates a suite of services, one component being a financial assistance package that may assist you to bring your production to the Gold Coast. Through our relationships with an extensive network of industry professionals, we are also able to connect you with relevant expertise in the city to ensure you can your production up and running as smoothly as possible.
- The approximate value of the production (minimum AU$1.5 million spend on the Gold Coast).
- Duration of the production and approximate percentage conducted on the Gold Coast.
- Approximate number of jobs and economic impact created on the Gold Coast during these periods.
Applications must be made prior to confirming a Gold Coast shoot.

Funding at a State and Federal Level
The Australian Federal Government and Queensland State Government also offer incentive programs for screen production attraction. These programs are administered through Screen Australia and Screen Queensland.
The Federal Government (under Screen Australia) supports filming through the Australian Screen Production Incentive including: production investment, project development, producer offset (20% – 40% tax rebate), location offset (16.5% tax rebate and locations incentive) and post digital VFX offset (30% tax rebate).
The State Government (through Screen Queensland) provides incentives in a range of areas including; development investment, locations and scouting assistance, production investment, Revolving Film Finance Fund (RFFF), International Co-productions and Queensland Payroll Tax Rebate.
